BURKLE HOUSE / SLAVEHAVEN MUSEUM

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Burkle House / Slavehaven museum is a facility dedicated to educating persons on the significance of the Underground Railroad and the abolitionist movement in Memphis. It serves to preserve the heritage of African Americans in the Memphis area and the U.S. The Museum has requested assistance from the CRA by way of the Uptown Acquisition Committee to acquire various parcels of land surrounding the museum to allow them to expand their facilities including parking and creating an outdoor area.
