RALEIGH SPRINGS MALL

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Overton Square has been a vibrant place for some time and is making another comeback. The area provides experiences for all types with an array of restaurants, retail, and entertainment, and will soon be even more concretely described as Memphis’s theater district. Currently, Playhouse on the Square and Circuit Playhouse are located in the district, and Hattiloo Theater will be joining them in the near future.

It is critical to first provide the infrastructure necessary for a project of this scale, and the City is doing so by constructing a three-story, 449 space parking garage on the west side of the block bordered by Cooper Avenue, Trimble, Florence, and Monroe. The garage will not only house patrons’ vehicles, but it will be built upon a 1,000,000 cubic gallon detention basin. Overton Square is located within the Lick Creek Basin and there is an excess volume of rain water run-off of 4,632,000 cubic feet in a 25 year rain event. With the addition of this holding area, a 28.6% improvement will be made, and the surrounding community will see the benefits of this with lesser flooding potential. O. T. Marshall is acting as project manager and the garage is scheduled for completion in September 2013.
